We’re delighted to welcome you into WAS tomorrow as we mark the turning of the seasons with our Lughnasa Celebration. Programme of the Day- Meet the Artists: wander through our Members’ Exhibition, chat with the makers, and enjoy the breadth of creativity in our community.- Printing Demonstration at 2pm: see the process in action as traditional techniques meet contemporary imagination.- Storytelling at 4pm: gather round for tales to stir the heart and learn all about Lugh, the god of the sun. – Boat making throughout the day: make a paper boat to be launched in solidarity with the Barcelona flotilla Whether you pop in for a few minutes or stay for the afternoon, you’ll find art, conversation, and a true sense of Ballydehob’s creative spirit.All are welcome – join us in celebration of Lughnasa at Working Artist Studios!

So which one would YOU choose? On Saturday at @workingartiststudios we launched a raffle to raise funds for the studio. The prize? Well, the winner will get a choice between two pieces of mine. Thank you to those who have already bought tickets. They are available from WAS and online soon! Two sculptures of figures from both Irish written and spoken history/mythology. Made from steel and copper using welding and gas cutting techniques.Niamh Chinn Óir warned Oisín son of Fionn of na Fianna should he follow his love for her to the land of eternal youth, he could never return to the mortal world without his own mortality returning with him. He did anyway. Niamh watches in sorrow from high on her pedestal… OR… Suibhne Mac Colmáin, the mad king found his freedom by becoming a bird of the wild. He traveled freely unhindered by clothing or worldly possessions. Suibhne joins the dawn chorus…The choice is yours…
